These two communities have as their background the Panz\u00f3s Massacre of May 29, 1978.<\/p>\n\n\n

Polochic River<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n

While the medical care to Bella Flor was taking place, we went, on foot 2 and a half kilometers, to see the Polochic River. There, on the riverbank, an individual approached us, identified himself as a veterinarian and named himself the owner of the farms, and his aunt as the owner of the lands that the invaders usurped. In opposition to that person, the young driver of the tuktuk (motorcycle taxi), that we took to return, censured the farmer, calling him a troublemaker, and identified himself as a relative of the leaders that the security forces of the Guatemalan State massacred in 1978. Before returning us to the Bella Flor community hall, this young man gave us a tour around the municipal seat of Panz\u00f3s.<\/p>\n\n\n

In the town square, we saw some commemorative murals of the heroes who resisted. We scanned the QR code that was on the central mural, which took us to the video that I share with you here. Watch it, because this video situates the fight for the land of these communities that we accompany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
