Prayers for Ghana<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Divine Lord, you are the father of all creations. We come before you with a thankful heart of gratitude. Graciously loving and caring, you work everywhere, feeding, reconciling, healing, and providing for your creation. In your Son and through the power of your Holy Spirit, invite each of us to join in your work. Grant us the courage to proclaim your word. Bless our Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, and its leadership. Open doors of gospel ministry for them, bringing light to where there’s darkness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We pray for the missionaries who present the gospel boldly and clearly amidst all trials and temptations. Guide them to endure the hardship as good soldiers of Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n

We pray for flood victims at Mepe and Dzemeni, who became homeless and vulnerable due to the recent spillage of the Akosombo Dam. Send your Holy Spirit to feed and clothe them. As we pray together, may the covenant of partnership with Global Ministries remain sealed by your Holy Spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We pray for the nation of Ghana to have peaceful elections devoid of violence. May you grant us a spirit of love and harmony as we care for God’s creation, the people of Ghana, the leadership, churches, and all human institutions and organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We pray through Jesus Christ, Amen!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mission Moment from Ghana<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

The Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG) held its 12th General Assembly in Ho with the theme “Care for God’s Creation: The Mission of the Church Comes to Play.\u201d Between September 15th and October 2023, a spillage of the Akosombo Dam submerged communities downstream and led to flooding along the Volta Basin. Many victims lost their belongings and livelihood\u2014farmlands, houses, and properties. Mepe and Dzemeni were the two majorly affected communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Church leadership solicited support from local congregations with compassion. They provided food items, used clothing, funds, and water, along with many other items. Matthew 25:42-46 says, “For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink. I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didn’t give me clothing…<\/em>“<\/p>\n\n\n

This social and physical intervention by the EPCG brought life and hope to the affected individuals and families. We also partnered with a U.S. faith agency that supports disaster-related issues. Blessings be upon our partners, as we appreciate their efforts and support in disaster response, which changed lives along with the prompt intervention by the EPCG.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The church’s mission is to improve livelihoods and enhance dignity in the affected communities. Over 500 families received assorted food items, mattresses, and bags of sachet water (Prima\u2014an EPCG product), along with pending “starters” (cash) to improve their livelihoods. It was a success story that brought life to the people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
