Pray with Mexico, July 24, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prayers for Mexico<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Lord, teach us to pray,” a request that is a prayer in itself, when we humbly recognize our vital need to return to our original source, to the One who created us and loves us as a father or a mother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jesus taught us that prayer is the human word that responds to that divine Word that embraces us, encourages us, and confronts us. Therefore, in prayer heaven bursts on earth and God’s name is sanctified; his Kingdom comes and is among us and we ask for his will to be done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prayer challenges us to live the ethical dimension of the Kingdom: that in loving solidarity we share the bread that we receive daily as a gift from God; that in the practice of mercy and justice we forgive others their debts and offenses; that recognizing our weaknesses we take refuge in the one who can keep us and deliver us from evil or from doing evil to others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Lord, teach us to pray” because we do not want to pray from our selfishness asking for that which does not contribute to the fullness of life of the human community and of your creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Lord, teach us to pray” because if you teach us we will learn from your sensitivity and it will be worthwhile to live in prayer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Lord, teach us to pray” so that we may enjoy your company and friendship knowing that we can bring before you our burdens and weariness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Lord, teach us to pray” so that we may participate in your mission in the world and collaborate in the establishment of your Kingdom of justice and peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thank you for teaching us to pray with our feet on the ground and our arms stretched out towards heaven. We sanctify your name in every act of justice and mercy, we affirm the coming of your Kingdom by working for the establishment of peace, and your will is done when we give ourselves into your hands with trust and hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Lord, teach us to pray.” Amen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mission Stewardship Moment from Mexico<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

The experience of prayer that our Lord taught us fills us with joy and hope to be able to pray or continue praying with the churches and seminaries in Mexico. Since we began our missionary service in this beautiful country, we have had the opportunity to participate in different days of prayer, many of them to ask and act in favor of specific groups that are in vulnerable situations or living under different types of violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

United in prayer with the seminaries of the Theological Community of Mexico and with the churches that participate in these ecumenical spaces, we want to present the thanksgiving and petitions that have been generated and continue to be generated in these days of prayer:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
