Dear brothers and sisters in the ecumenical family,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ecumenical Greetings from the All Africa Conference of Churches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have continued to receive disturbing news on Mozambique on the persisting armed conflict in the country. The central provinces of Sofala and Manica have continued to suffer from the brutal attacks. The killing of innocent people and destroying people’s homes and sources of livelihood have continued seemingly unabated. In addition to the politically motivated violence allegedly perpetrated by RENAMO splinter group, the Islamic insurgency that started in 2017 particularly in the northern region with the violent religious extremists unleashing horrible attacks on the people, burning and raiding communities. These brutal acts have forced thousands of people to move in search of safe areas. The number of Internal Displaced Peoples (IDPs) continue to increase disturbingly. More than 2 million displaced people are living in deplorable conditions in this Covid-19 pandemic with 27,446 confirmed cases in Mozambique. This worsens a situation that was already weakened by the impacts of tropical cyclones in 2019 on the economy of the country and the life of the people and is likely to trigger social instability and civil unrest due to the rising costs of living, and will hence slowdown post-cyclone reconstruction efforts by government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The All Africa Conference of Churches has long sought to accompany the churches and people in countries in their search for sustainable peace, justice and democracy. Concerned about peace, and as a way of expressing our solidarity with brothers and sisters in Mozambique, the AACC would like to invite you to hold Mozambique in your prayers for God’s intervention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As you pray, please remember to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2713 pray for sustainable peace and good weather conditions in Mozambique;
\u2713 pray for cessation of armed violence in Mozambique;
\u2713 pray for healing of the scars and memories from colonization and civil wars;
\u2713 pray that religious leaders in Mozambique remain prophetic in their search for peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

May the God of life lead Africa to peace, justice and dignity and hear and respond to our prayers for Mozambique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
